Snellville's 31st Annual Christmas Tree Lighting is Today
The 60-foot tall Christmas Tree next to Snellville City Hall will come to life on Saturday, Nov. 24th as the city of Snellville celebrates the 31st annual Christmas Tree Lighting.
An afternoon of events is planned on the Towne Green prior to Santa's lighting the tree at 7 PM.
Beginning at 3 p.m., Santa will be at his headquarters on the Green, welcoming children of all ages. A photographer will be on hand to take pictures. There will be plenty of other activities as well, including carriage rides and a caroling hay ride.
Bring one canned good or $1.00 for a ticket to participate in the following activities, limited to the first 300 kids:
Lowe's Build It Kits
Michaels Ornament Decorating
Bill Rhodes Bakery Cookie Decorating
Funnel cakes, hamburgers and hot dogs, along with hot drinks and other special Christmas treats will be located near the Santa Headquarters.
Help "Give Hunger the Boot!"
Bring some canned goods, dry food products or gift cards from a local food store for a chance to win prizes and restaurant coupons throughout the day. All food products will benefit Southeast Gwinnett Cooperative Ministry food bank.
You can also bring an unwrapped toy for Toys for Tots.
Prior to the tree lighting, there will be a variety of choral and instrumental performances featuring your favorite Christmas Carols by local church and school groups. Plus, you'll be able to toast s'mores on the green.
Then, Santa in his horse and carriage will be escorted to the tree by Snellville Mayor Kelly Kautz, and the two will throw the switch and light the 60-foot tall decorated tree.
Following the lighting of the tree, Santa will be available until 8 p.m. at his headquarters for more visits with children and pictures.
