South Gwinnett Students Organize Back-to-School Drive

On Aug. 2, three sophomores at South Gwinnett High School decided to start their own group entitled R.A.A.G (Reaching Academic & Athletic Goals).

The girls are athletes at South Gwinnett and they are all great students; they thought the name was perfect as it details their goals all in one.

They organized a Back to School Supply Drive for the four elementary schools in the South Gwinnett Cluster.  They were able to purchase 12 backpacks with money received and stuffed all of them with the school supplies received from friends, family and neighbors.  They also made 12 supply one galloon bags filled with school supplies.  They were able to deliver 3 backpacks and 3 supply bags to each school.

The girls have decided that they want to give back to their community and felt that the supply drive would be a good way to give to area children that may not have school supplies to start the school year.  The Principals of the elementary schools were very appreciative of the supplies.  The girls look forward to more volunteer opportunities.

The girls of R.A.A.G can be reached at sneedaaa@gmail.com for additional volunteer opportunities.

Oh, that's wonderful!! If you need another project, the Southeast Gwinett Cooperative Ministry, located at 1200 Athens Hwy, could use girls like you to help the clients who come there each week. Thank you for reaching out to those in need. Ivy Hudson Pantry Manager Southeast Gwinnett Cooperative Ministry
