New resident and Pet Partners Dan Barnhill and his animal teammate “Peoples,” recently qualified as a registered Delta Society® Pet Partners® (therapy animal) team. They provide animal-assisted activity / therapy to hospitals, assisted-living, hospice, physical and occupational therapy centers, schools, libraries and many other places to bring joy, comfort and inspiration. Animal-assisted activity and thearpy volunteers provide animal interactions that can help lower patients’ blood pressure, reduce stress and anxiety, temporarily reduce pain, motivate patients in physical therapy to do more, inspire children to learn to read, and so much more.

They also visit elementary schools to provide 30 minute classes to young students on the “How to’s” in the dog world; such as How to approach a unfamiliar dog, How to read a dog’s fear and more.
