Viewfinder: Cannon Church's Missions Reach Near and Far

Cannon United Methodist Church reaches across state lines and across the Americas on mission and relief trips to help those in need.

A recent Sunday at Cannon United Methodist Church found members hosting the fourth annual "Baker Barbeque," which is a fundraiser for missionaries Ed and Linda Baker.  At the same time church volunteers were loading a truck with supplies to take to Pleasant Grove, Ala., for distribution to tornado victims.

Ed and Linda Baker have worked for the past 11 years in Latin America in countries such as Honduras, Nicaragua and Paraguay.  Their mission has served more than 35 communities by establishing fresh water wells and other services, as a ministry of Jesus Christ. They now begin a new chapter as co-directors of the Global Resource Team (GRT) and as the water and sanitation team leaders of the GRT.  They will  live half the year here, and half the year traveling for GRT.  For more information on their mission, see www.aguadevida.org.
