Briscoe Park has undergone a significant renovation over the past few years. From the realignment of Snell Drive, a new restroom building, new playground area, additional parking, two new bridges and a new section of retaining stone wall in 2009 to the removal of the old softball field, lower tennis courts, sand volleyball courts, and Partee Plaza in 2012, the renovations are designed to attract residents with a high quality recreational facility.

A 160,000 square foot lit multi-use field, a 130-space parking area and Partee monument and flags are the most recent additions.

Now, five new pieces of outdoor fitness equipment will be placed along the walking trail. The purchase and installation of the equipment was made possible by a generous 100% donation from Aksa Park/Meyko Outdoor Fitness Equipment, a Turkish based company, with no cost to the citizens of Snellville, according to a recent statement by the Office of the Mayor.

Mayor Kautz was able to secure this donation after her travels abroad this past summer to Turkey with the Istanbul Center. The City of Snellville hopes to serve as a showcase for the workmanship of Aksa Park and its equipment.

The partnership between the City of Snellville and Aksa Park is another example of the State of Georgia's blossoming relationship with the Republic of Turkey, according to the Mayor.

This is awesome. I take my kids to the park a lot, I'm definitely going to take advantage of the new equipment. I hope they add pull up and dip bars as well in future. A welcome step in the right direction towards fighting obesity in our city.
