Five Things to Know in Snellville

Here's a few things to keep an eye out for!

Welcome to Monday, a new work week week and oh, Columbus Day. Here are some things to know for this week.

Fundraisers: Today, Texas Roadhouse in Snellville will host its second annual Drive for MS fundraiser. Shotgun time is 11 a.m. a, , 3254 Clubside View Court, Snellville. Don't miss this opportunity to give back. Money goes to support the National MS Society.

Rain, rain, go away: Whoa, it's going to rain. Definitely, going to rain. In Snelville, according to the National Weather Service, there is a 70 percent chance of rain in our parts during the day, and then there is an 80 percent chance this evening. And, the temperature has dropped. The high for the day is 68 degrees, so pack a jacket and an umbrella.

Hello Surveys: Don't forget to log on to the city of Snellville website and complete two new surveys. One is related to art, as the city is looking to get an arts movement going and wants feedback on what you think. Whether you are interested in visual, performing or literary arts, the city wants all folks -- including our local artists -- to get involved. Snellville will be on its way to be a little more artsy if you do. In addition, the city also has a survey out about starting a community garden in the city. (We will have a story about this effort later in the week.)

Dracula!: It's a new month at , and Halloween is just around the corner. Keeping with the theme, our local theatre will be presenting Dracula beginning October 14. If you wanted to be in the production, oh well, you already missed auditions. But, you can go ahead and snag your tickets to this festive presentation today. (Cue evil laugh.) By the way, there are auditions today for the theatre's winter holiday musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Be there by 6 p.m. For more information on that, click here.

What? No School! Welcome to Happy Columbus Day. Gwinnett County Public Schools are off for the holiday. So, for us working folks that means an easier commute in to the office. (It should mean an easier commute; it is raining today, afterall.) If you get to stay at home with the kiddos, there are also a few things that you can do. Try local , head on over to a , or even Pumpkin Festival at Stone Mountain Park.
