Gwinnett Ballet Theatre is Under Construction
Formerly in Snellville, the Lawrenceville facilities are scheduled to open in the fall.
Gwinnett Ballet Theatre's new home is a 20,000 square foot facility across from Gwinnett Technical College.
Remodeling and construction have begun in the complex, which will be able to accommodate more students and offer more space.
"We just started construction," said Holley Calmes, marketing director for the theatre. "It's really exciting because they have already put up the steel barriers, and even though it's just concrete floors you can see what's it's going to be like."
The facility is bigger than any Calmes has seen. There is a room just for costumes, as well as a room for costume maintenance and design. There is a lobby, a board room that will double as a student study room, and separate showers for girls and boys.
GBT will hold open auditions for new school and Performance Division members on August 1 at the Gwinnett Performing Arts Center from noon until 5.
The audition is for dancers ages 7-18. There is no audition fee.
Students under age 7 do not need to attend the audition.
Call (770) 978-0188 for more information, or visit their website.

Althought GBT is moving, Snellville was GBT's home for many years, and many of the GBT dancers are Snellville resdients! This will not change!
