Results of recent Gwinnett County restaurant inspections in Snellville by East Metro Public Health with a synopsis of deficiencies found by the inspector. These are reports over the past week.

May 20:

Name: Five Spot Frozen Yogurt
Location: 1905 Scenic Highway, Suite 1000B
Score: 100/A
Previous Scores: None, new business is seeking permit
Deficiencies observed: None

May 18:

Name: Barnes and Noble
Location: 1350 Scenic Highway, Suite 100
Score: 96/A
Previous Scores: 100/A (Nov. 19, 2010); 95/A (Jan. 6, 2010)
Deficiencies observed: Hand sink next to ice machine blocked with lid cover and stainless cleaner container.

Name: Papa John's Pizza, No. 400
Location: 4000 Stone Mountain Highway
Score: 90/A
Previous Scores: 93/A (Oct. 28, 2010); 92/A (March. 30, 2010)
Deficiencies observed: Can opener blade and holder had visible food buildup; cleaning solution not at appropriate sanitizing level (repeat violation); several cleaners and chemicals were being stored above food surfaces, including the pizza cutting area. Permit suspended on May 18 due to repeat violations.

Score: 92/A
Previous Scores: 96/A (Dec. 10, 2010); 99/A (Nov. 18, 2010)
Deficiencies observed: Cleanser for fryer stored in area for clean dishes, employee with fingernails too long, and light bulbs above food area were not shatter proof.

Score: 96/A
Previous Scores: 91/A (Sept. 22, 2010); 96/A (Feb. 17, 2010)
Deficiencies observed: Employee drinking from an unapproved container in the food prep area.

Score: 96/A
Previous Scores: 96/A (Dec. 214, 2010); 100/A (Oct. 29, 2010)
Deficiencies observed: Employee eating in food service area.

Of all things, the "employee with fingernails too long" is what gave me the creepin' willies! Glad to know Five Spot started up well... my kids are begging me to take them there. May make for a nice 'Last Day of School' treat!
