Gwinnett County Police confirmed that Derek Woodston Buford, 42, of Grayson, has been found. He was located in Florida by Florida Wildlife officers and is now in the intensive care unit at a Florida hospital.

An alert was issued for Buford by GCPD after he was reported missing. His family was alerted when he didn't turn up for work on Aug. 23. There were concerns about medical issues that he had and Buford's two children and their mother, Grace Buford, spent days actively searching the route he might have taken to work. They were worried that he could have had an accident on the way to work and the car not be visible from the road. GCPD issued an alert when there appeared to be no sign of Buford or the car he was driving.

According to Grace Buford, Florida park rangers located Buford on Sept. 9, almost three weeks after he first disappeared. She declined to give specifics, except to say they got to him in the "nick of time" and he is now recovering in a Florida hospital and getting the medical attention that he needs.
