New London's 'Rocky Horror Show' is a Huge Crowd Pleaser

Have you done the Time Warp lately? Do it again at New London Theatre's presentation of this cult classic.

Under the direction of Scott Rousseau, this edgy interpretation of the cult classic was a huge hit with Friday night's audience.

The cast performed outrageous renditions of "Damn it, Janet," "Touch-A Touch-A Touch Me," and, of course, "The Time Warp." For those of you who are unfamiliar with the musical, it spoofs mid-century B-movies with an ensemble of transgender aliens paired with a tightly wound, freshly engaged couple.

It's basically a silly, raunchy comedy that pushes humor to the edge, and the cast more than pulls it off. The star of the show was Mark Galloway-Stillions, the owner of Margins Retail, as Dr. Frank N. Furter. His powerful delivery, humor and physical presence brings a surprising depth to the performance.

Riff Raff, played by Richard Diaz, held his own and did the character justice. His transformation at the end of the show was superb.

Other cast members included Barbara Meadows as the Criminologist, Jesse Farmer as Brad, Erin Paulukaitis as Janet, Brandy Morris as Magenta, Anne Marie Pollacia as Columbia, Chase McElroy as Rocky, John Bates as Eddie, Brian Jones as Dr. Scott and Katie Bates and Lea Herring as the phantoms.

No actor shies away from the sexual nature of the play, and the brazenness of the show is hilarious. This is not for the easily offended, and I can imagine it would take a lot of guts to perform this in front of a live audience.

A live, interactive audience that added whole new level of amusement. The cast took whatever the audience threw at them, sometimes literally. A bag of props is available at the front desk that includes a water gun, bubbles and playing cards.

New London will continue to perform the show for the next two weekends. Visit their website for more information and to purchase tickets.

I want to take my daughter to see this. I've told her about it for years.

A quick correction for the full cast photos - The person next to Erin (Janet) is Joseph Johnson, our TD and one of the Phantoms, not me (John Bates). I'm on the right, in the aviators.

FYI - had a glitch because I had multiple full cast photos. Looks like I copied and pasted to the wrong photo. I'll have it right soon :)
