Overnight Fire Completely Destroys a Loganville Church

Walton County Fire Rescue officials reported that a church on Rosebud Road in Loganville was completely destroyed by fire in the early hours of Sunday morning, March 10, 2013.

WCFR Batallion Chief Craig league reported that crews from WCFR stations No. 13, 2 and 3 as well as from Loganville Fire Department Station No. 16 all responded to a structure fire at The Holy Family Knanaya Catholic Church located at 3885 Rosebud Road, in Loganville.

"A church sanctuary on the site was completely destroyed by the fire," League said, adding that the sanctuary was currently under renovation by construction crews at the time. "The first 911 call was received from a nearby neighbor at 3:20 am."

League said the initial caller advised the building had heavy flames coming from it and when crews arrived the building was fully involved. The building was unoccupied at the time and no injuries were reported.

"The cause of the fire is currently unknown, but is being investigated by WCFR, the Ga Fire Marshal's Office, and the Atlanta office of the (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives)," League said. "The ATF assists in investigating all church fires."
