Severe Storm Watch Issued

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the Snellville area. Most rain is expected after 8 p.m.

 

Metro Atlanta could be in for some strong storms this evening, according to the National Weather Service office in Peachtree City.

A severe thunderstorm watch was issued at 3:45 p.m. for areas in northwest Georgia until 11 p.m.. The watch area includes Gwinnett County and many surrounding areas, including DeKalb, Rockdale, Hall and Walton counties.  A hazardous weather outlook was also issued earlier Thursday morning for areas that also include Gwinnett County.

The Snellville area there is a 70 percent chance of rain for the evening. Showers and thunderstorms are likely, mostly between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m.
