Whiz Kid's Name: Troop 582

Whiz Kid's Age: Boys Ages 11 - 18

Whiz Kid's School: Troop 582 meets at St. Oliver Plunkett Catholic Church every Monday at 7 p.m., and they attend various schools in Snellville area.

Whiz Kid's Accomplishment: The troop has collected food for the local Southeast Gwinnett Cooperative Ministry, and they have raised money for charity by volunteering as workers at several car shows. The group has also painted several rooms and hallways at Westminster Presbyterian Church. The troop currently has 41 Boy Scouts, including 14 in their first year and 14 Life Scouts (the rank before Eagle). "We also go caving, camping, whitewater rafting, hiking and lots of other cool stuff," said Bruce Smith, committee chair.

Whiz Kid's Key to Awesomeness: "We are awesome because we are: trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean and reverent," Smith said. These words are considered Boy Scouts tenets.
