Will You be Watching the 2013 Presidential Inauguration?

On Monday, President Barack Obama will be sworn in for his second term of office. Will you watch the ceremony and inaugural festivities.

On Monday, Jan. 21, President Barack Obama will be sworn in for his second term as president.

Actually, his official swearing in will take place in private ceremony the day before, on Jan. 20, as set out in the Constitution. But since Jan. 20 is a Sunday, the inaugural festivities will be delayed by one day, as is traditional, to Jan. 21.

Starting at 11:20 a.m. (EST) - viewers of the Presidential Inauguration will be treated to all the pomp and circumstance, including a ceremonial swearing in, inaugural address, parade and national anthem sung by Beyonce. The inauguration will be carried on all major networks.

Obama's first inauguration stirred up a lot of excitement, but that may have ebbed somewhat for his second term.

Will you be watching Obama's second Presidential Inauguration ceremony and festivities on Monday?

Ah, and so the divide continues. :) I probably won't be watching, but then I never watch any. The first and only one I watched was the first one for President Bill Clinton (I missed the first President Bush). Once was enough for me. Watching at the speed of time is just too slow. I don't have that kind of time. I know I will get to see the highlights in reruns - again, and again, and again. I don't watch Olympic opening ceremonies, Oscars, etc. either.

I'll probably miss it because I'll be at the MLK Day Parade in Lawrenceville. But I'll probably watch it online or something later.

"no conscious"? LOL! I think your attempt at insulting a who race of people simply backfired on you. The word is "CONSCIENCE" sweetie. Conscience - lacking morals. Conscious - having mental faculties not dulled by sleep or fainting.

I'm having a hard time reading your comment thcooper69 because of all the typos and horrendous grammar, but I think I get what you're trying to say. When I went to the Inauguration in '09, the White House lawn was very clean. No trash to be seen except for in the trash cans. The people, aka Obama voters, were very respectful of the event and location. It was the most peaceful, wonderful and loving event I'd ever attended. Strangers hugging strangers, taking photos, sharing handwarmers... It was incredible. And when it was all over, everyone threw their trash in the trash cans.

I didn't watch it in 2009 so I sure won't be tuning in today. I did not vote for him and I don't want to subject myself to the BS he spews. I am sure he will express how we are all Americans and need to respect one another, and then tomorrow curse out Republicans. No, the guy is a fake and a liar and he is evil as hell.

On face book and twitter we have been encouraging a news turn off from yesterday until Tuesday, including Fox. All 3 cable networks will be talking non stop about it, why subject ourselves to the bull ? Today, my kids will be off from school and on their computer and I am watching On Demand all day.

I never miss an Inaugural speech. It's like we get to reboot America every 4 years.

" I have been the subject of abuse and slander scarcely ever equaled in political history, which to-day I feel that I can afford to disregard in view of your verdict, which I gratefully accept as my vindication." Spoken by President U. S. Grant during his second Inaugural. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Here's wishing President Obama another successful term. Hillary 2016.

Personally attacking someone because their literary skills are lacking GGY? Up on your pedestal again....and you wonder why you have a target on your pathetic self. You scream foul when you get called out but fail to look in the mirror. Probably why the PATCH ignores your crying, whining tail.

I'm not the first to point out the misspelling of the writer's derogatory remarks against the President, just the only one you "target", but no less kind.

And, JB, I don't wonder why I have a target on me by you et al. I know why. It's because I dare to disagree with most of the people like you. You carry it to a personal, usually ugly, degree in every comment to me and it goes way, way beyond a grammatical criticism. You are trying to shame me for laughing at two words misspelled. You are condescending to the writer. Could it be he was just in a hurry, distracted, didn't take time to proof his post? You conclude he lacks "literary skills". That is more insulting.

It was a beautiful ceremony. It was moving to see and hear the people who came from thousands of miles away to celebrate and witness our nation's democratic process. It is too bad local Americans chose to embarrass themselves and their country by the misinformed and shameful words they post. You would do your country a great service to be silent on a day of such national importance. Save it for tomorrow, or not at all.

GGY, you are rewriting history. Lives were lost for freedoms for sure. Holding an inauguration is not one of them. That's a ceremony, not a freedom. You spoke of bloodshed in the context of today's ceremony. I just thought I had missed something important. Seeing Obama sworn in for a second term isn't historic. The majority of presidents have served second terms. Let's see what he does with this opportunity. I'll withhold my predictions.

And trust me Brian, when GGY suggest my post should be deleted and not hers because she is exempt from anyone questioning her free speech but mine should always be questioned is showing more restraint than you would ever understand.

You guys yack away, amuse yourselves. We all lose in days like we have experienced and like those of the future. America will wake up or be destroyed...not a prediction, just a statement of fact.

Obama is a lame duck president. He will do less this term than the last which hopefully translates into less harm...and don't pay too much attention to the whining, self absorbed, pompous, and extremely unpopular GGY...not even her husband likes her...why do you think she is on here posting day and night...she is being ignored at home...........

Mr. B, I apologize if I mistook your question as real and not flippant as it read. But, it would be a stretch to see my meaning as a happening today. You know that would have been the story and not the ceremony. Why would you phrase your question that way? If you were confused, you could have worded it in a less alarming way. In fact, if you had really thought something horrible had happened, you would not have been posting on Patch instead of getting to the news. Of that I am 99.99999+% sure. At least I hope that would be the case. If not, you've got bigger problems than being misunderstood on a Patch thread. We all do.

I am not rewriting history. All inaugurations are historical. And this one is too, as only 16 Presidents have been inaugurated twice out of 44 men - that is not most, and the President is the first non-white to be elected not once, but twice. It is not a prerequisite of an event being deemed historic if only you say so.

I'm sure Brian can judge for himself about me and you. He may have negative opinions of me, as you do, but he wouldn't insult or attack me with them.

I said that your post should be removed because of your 2nd question. And it should be deleted. You should do that yourself.

Why would I suggest my own be deleted? I'm careful not to make such comments that they should be. I'll leave that to Patch.
