Decatur Book Festival

Last Labor Day, my husband took the kids and went to the family farm for the weekend. I was home alone and decided to venture out to the Decatur Book Festival. It was my first time ever. Knowing that my new favorite writer, Emily Giffin would be there was just a perk.

I hoped on the train for Decatur not knowing what to expect. I thought it would just be something small, I'd hear Emily speak and then leave. As I left the Marta station and turned the corner, I saw a huge literary world. I was able to get lost in a sea of awesomeness. There were multiple stages for authors to speak from.  Vendors of all kinds lined the streets. And I essentially came home with a slew of new books - all autographed - and knowing that I had met some new and interesting people.

This year, the festival will be on the same weekend - Labor Day. It's going to be a different kind of awesomeness for me this year. I will finish the day before with my final class in my creative writing degree. My hope is to one day be there with my own book.

Go like their Facebook page or follow them on Twitter and watch for this year's line-up! And PLEASE, leave a comment to help me win passes to the launch party.  Then I'll personally bring you the line-up before it's released anywhere else.
