Still Proud To Be a Democrat

If there were any doubt, last night at the convention, President Bill Clinton reminded us why we should be proud to be Democrats. President Clinton laid out in layman's terms how and why we are where we are today.

"He inherited a deeply damaged economy, put a floor under the crash, began the long hard road to recovery, and laid the foundation for a more modern, more well balanced economy that will produce millions of good new jobs," said the former President.

Enthusiasm was high as the roll was called. Each State gave a roaring endorsement, affirming the nomination of President Obama. Dr. Joseph Lowery served as the Chair of our delegation.

The American flag waving against the backdrop, the entire stadium on its feet, we again nominate President Barack Obama with pride. And we are proud knowing that "President Obama's plan cuts the debt, honors our values, and brightens the future for our children, our families and our nation," according to Clinton.

So, at the close of day 2 of the convention, having read the ugly responses from my last post, I sleep well, my spirit intact, again thanking God for my family, my country and my President.

Lynn, my wife and I often feel that the time we most hate to be around our fellow Christians is at election time. Conservative Christians are at their worst during Presidential elections. You are an example of that. Your comment is an example of the ugly responses Steffini mentioned. That's not the way to demonstrate the love of God to people, Lynn.

Any way......Continue Steffeni doing what your doing. We Democrats and some Republicans understand God's Omnipresence. Put God back? What?

Lynn, don't you mean "too" ? Is the Democratic party a religion, our isn't there some separation between church and state?

No question, the President has made tremendous progress since taking office. But as he stated, he knows we need to make even more. We are on the correct path but hindered and hampered by a negative and recalcitrant congress bent on sabotaging his every move for patrician gain. For example one million jobs could have been created if the Republican congress had passed the president's jobs He understands that to keep this country moving we need education, infrastructure investment, research & development ,a rational immigration policy, and a balance in regulations & law. These are the five things that our parents and grandparents invested in before the perversions of trickle down economics(Reagan) and of you can have it all without paying(Bush) .Something that Reagan and especially Bush failed to understand. The Republican strategy offers no hope. Indeed their cynical election tactics proves my point. They will create voter frustration with massive negative ads, voter suppression laws, appealing to the white male "DixieRepublicans" with veiled racists remarks and suggestions. One day this group will wise up to the fact that their interests are not served well by the Republican party. But until then you can read their comments. I will savor a Democratic victory in the fall.
