'Artist Talk' Set for Feb. 12 in Snellville

The event is sponsored by the Snellville Arts Commission and is a part of Black History Month.

Local artists Tracie L. Hawkins and Bill E. Leavell will lead a discussion on their art in an event sponsored by the Snellville Arts Commission.

“Artist Talk” is scheduled 5 p.m.-7 p.m. Feb. 12 at City Hall.

SNELLVILLE – Residents are invited to meet featured artists Tracie L. Hawkins and Bill E. Leavell to discuss the inspiration behind their work at a lecture at 5 p.m., Feb. 12 at City Hall, 2342 Oak Road.

The event is sponsored by the Snellville Arts Commission and is a part of Black History Month.

Hawkins, a Stone Mountain art gallery owner, creates fine art using stitches and strokes. 

She is an oil painter and a fiber artist inspirited by nature and historical events.

Leavell, who manages a Stone Mountain art gallery, captures the human spirit in graphite and uses charcoal. He is inspired by the human face and the emotion it portrays.

The work of both artists, part of the exhibit entitled, “Fabric of Our Emotions,” will be on display through Feb. 28.
