Five Things to Know for the Weekend

Check out what's going on in the first few days of November.

It's a new month and a new weekend. Here's what you need to know for Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

1. Time to fall back: Daylight Saving Time ends this Sunday (Nov. 3) at 2 a.m. Here are a few things you can do with that extra hour.

2. Mayor's Cup: High school football is coming to a close soon, but not before the Mayor's Cup this Friday (Nov. 1). Brookwood and South Gwinnett are going head-to-head for the annual trophy, which is new this year. Mayor Kelly Kautz will be presenting the cup to the winning team at the end of the game.

3. The weather is a mixed bag: According to the National Weather Service, Friday has a good chance of rain during the day with a 30 percent chance at night. It's supposed to be sunny the rest of the weekend, though. Strangely, the temperature is predicted to decrease as the weekend progresses, too: The high Friday is 71 degrees with a low of 46, Saturday has a high of 67 degrees and a low of 42, an Sunday's high is 62 with a low of 41.

4. All Saints' Day, then All Souls' Day: Many churches in the U.S. celebrate All Saints' Day on Nov. 1 and then All Souls' Day on Nov. 2. According to timeanddate.com, the first holiday, also known as All Hallows' Day, honors all the (you guessed it) saints and martyrs, and the next day is dedicated to prayers for the dead. Both days are usually spent visiting cemeteries and graves. Dia de los Muetros also is celebrated Nov. 1.
