Brookwood Senior Wins Lilburn Woman's Club Scholarship

Christine Axt plans to become a teacher.

Christine Axt, a senior at Brookwood High School, won a $1,000 scholarship from the Lilburn Woman’s Club, awarded at club's recent annual awards ceremony.

Axt, who plans to attend Kennesaw State. has decided to pursue a degree in Secondary Education and become a teacher “to help students change the world for the better.”

She says she wants to follow in the footsteps of several generations of teachers in her family.

Axt has been active in volunteer work for many years, most recently tutoring and mentoring middle- and high-school students five times a week. She was a member of the BEST Club, helping special needs students and was also active in Girl Scouts for 10 years.

She plans to continue her volunteer work during college by tutoring struggling Math students and special-needs children.
