Get Out: A Look at What to Do This Weekend

A touring musician who's opened for Blink 182, a charity yard sale, German food and more await for this weekend.

It's going to be a warm weekend, so take some time to have fun. There are music options, a silent option, the Snellville Farmers' Market, a yard sale and more. Who doesn't love a yard sale?

1. Lee Tyler Post at

When/Where: Saturday, May 21, 9 p.m., Summits Wayside Tavern, 525 Lake Center Parkway, Snellville.

Why Go: Enjoy some rock music that ranges from alternative to acoustic and blues. Originally a San Diego-based artist, Lee Tyler Post has opened up for artists such as Blink-182 and has been on numerous morning shows. He's currently on a tour throughout the state, and will be running through Summits this Saturday.

When/Where: Saturday, May 21, 8 a.m.-noon, Town Green (across from Snellville City Hall), 2342 Oak Road, Snellville.

Why Go: With its debut last week, get a second round of the market with fresh and organic fruits, vegetables, baked goods and other foods (even the irresistible King of Pops) at the second-best farmers' market in Georgia, as voted in the America's Best Farmers' Markets Contest last year. Fifty-plus vendors are signed up, so stock up that fridge. Until next week, of course.

3. Charity Yard Sale Benefiting the Lilburn Co-op

When/Where: Saturday, May 21, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Bruster's parking lot, 5314 Five Forks Trickum Road, Lilburn.

Why Go: The Lilburn Cooperative Ministry has been a staple in the community for years, aiding those in need with finances, parenting classes and more. With all proceeds benefiting the ministry, a community yard and bake sale will take place this Saturday and be led by children of the community.

Pricing: Free.

4. Spargelzeit Season at the German Bakery

When/Where: Saturday, May 21, all day, The Village Corner German Restaurant and Bakery, 6655 James B. Rivers Drive, Stone Mountain.Β 

Why Go: Spargelzeit, or asparagus, has hit the Village Bakery this Saturday. Owners Claus and Hilde Friese orders crates of fresh white asparagus (which is less bitter than the green kind) straight from Germany and will offer a number of dishes this Saturday and next: asparagus soup, white and green asparagus salad, Schnitzel Oscar, and duck breast with asparagus and wild mushrooms.

Pricing: Appetizers start at $7, sandwiches at $9 and entrees at $15.

5. Threshing Floor Academy Gallery Opening and Silent Art Auction

When/Where: Saturday, May 21, 6 p.m.-8:30 p.m., Threshing Floor Academy, 1025 Killian Hill Road, Lilburn.

Why Go: Threshing Floor Academy, an art and literary program academy, is having a grand opening to teach guests about the school different children's classes in the arts, music, culinary and dance genres. Food will be served, music will be playing, and guests can bid on pieces of art in a silent auction with proceeds going to their scholarships and artists.
