Get Out: Your Weekend Planner

It's July Fourth time, see what things are going on around Snellville and beyond.

Wow, half the year has gone by, and now we are in July. What do you have planned for the weekend? If you are still thinking about ways to put fireworks in your weekend fun, check out these events for ideas.

1. Star Spangled Snellville and American Celebration

When/Where: Sunday, July 3, 3 p.m.-9 p.m., Snellville Town Green and of Snellville, Oak Road and 2400 Main Street East, Snellville.

Why Go: Set-up by the Snellville Tourism and Trade and First Baptist Church of Snellville, the grand celebration will have live music playing patriotic tunes, a car show, games, inflatable rides and fireworks. Texas Roadhouse, the Varsity, Bruster’s Ice Cream, Rey’s Cuban Cafe, Uncle Betty's, Papa John's and C&D Concessions will all provide food for the red, white and blue occasion.

2. Fantastic Fourth Celebration at Stone Mountain Park

When/Where: Saturday, July 2-4, 10 a.m., Stone Mountain Park, 1000 Robert E. Lee Boulevard, Stone Mountain. 

Why Go: If you live in the metro Atlanta area, you have to experience the Independence Day celebration at Stone Mountain Park at least once. The park is celebrating its 44th year in celebrating the Fourth of July, and this time it's with its new Lasershow Spectacular in Mountainvision, special food and seat packages, live entertainment and more. 

Pricing: Free for the laser show and fireworks, but $10 to enter the park without an annual parking pass.

3. 4th of July at Lilburn City Park

When/Where: Monday, July 4, 6:30 p.m., Lilburn City Park, 76 Main Street, Lilburn. 

Why Go: Lilburn is having a free concert July 4th, so bring a lawn chair, some blankets and food to munch on while listening to local surf-genre bands SratoGeezer and the Surge! A fireworks celebration will follow, all in dedication for Independence Day. Also, bring your dog to The Little Shop of Arts and Antiques down the street for a free photo op and doggie treats. Check out the details .

4. "Megamind" at Movies on Main 

When/Where: Saturday, July 2, 8 p.m.- 11 p.m., Stone Mountain Village Lawn, Main Street, Stone Mountain. 

Why Go: Last time "Megamind" was scheduled to show in the Village, it got rained out, so it's back and rescheduled for this weekend. Stone Mountain Village's Movies on Main will have participating restaurants giving discounts to those attending the movie, but patrons are welcome to bring a picnic basket, too. Don't forget those lawn chairs and blankets! 

Pricing: Free.

5. Living it Up Friday Night Mature Vibe

When/Where: Friday, July 1, 7 p.m., Jay's Place II, 4812 Redan Road, Stone Mountain. 

Why Go: Every Friday night, Smooth and Groove Entertainment hosts an evening of music, free food, free admission and cheap drinks. Jay's Place II offers a free buffet from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., and all drinks are $5 each throughout the evening. The dress code is relaxed, but dress to impress. 

Pricing: Cover is free for everyone before 10 p.m., but after, its $10.
