Tonight's Hot Tamale Chili Cookoff To Be Largest Yet

Nearly forty competitors will compete for the title of Best Chili.

For the eighth year, the city of Grayson will play host to the Hot Tamale Chili Cookoff, an event produced by the Greater Eastside Chamber of Commerce (GECC), and benefiting the Grayson Care Groups- school teachers looking out for the material and financial (field trips etc.) needs of children in the community.

Vendors from Snellville, Loganville, Grayson and other nearby towns will participate, including Loganville and Snellville Patch.

This year’s festivities will be held on Saturday, Nov. 3 from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m., in Grayson City Park, and will include arts and craft vendors, activities for the kids, eight music acts, and over 35 chili competitors!

“This event always reminds us in the Chamber, of the important relationship between the business community and the community at large," said Jamie Dempsey, President of GECC. "It’s an opportunity for folks from all over the surrounding area to come out, enjoy a Saturday of fun, food, and music, and be a part of something important, especially in the current economy.”

Admission to the Cookoff is $5, and includes all of the chili and music that attendees can handle.  Children under 6 are free.

Sponsors of the event include many local businesses:  Sam’s Club, Southeast Urgent Care, Tom M. Wages Funeral Home, Precision Planning, Inc, Art Thou Signs, Georgia Surgicare, Grayson Orthodontics, Purofirst of Gwinnett, Brusters Ice Cream, Moosehead Marketing Solutions, Quality Awards, Freskos Media, Republic Services, Paychex, and Houston & CO., CPA’s are among the businesses involved in the festival.

“While the Chamber of Commerce supports businesses in three cities (Loganville, Snellville, and Grayson), it was born in Grayson, and has a love for the city of Grayson," added Dempsey. "We look forward to seeing this event continue to grow and be a fun way for people in the area to help give back to the community!”
