Whiz Kid's Accomplishment: David was a starting member of the varsity tennis team as a freshman. David went undefeated for the season, including all playoff matches, and he played every line, singles and doubles. He also had a "golden" set, in which he didn't lose a point the whole set. Other accomplishments:

  • He received his academic letter while taking AP world geography and accelerated math and was a scholar athlete for the tennis team.
  • He played in the Maroon and Gold Band as principle oboist and also played guitar in the Maroon and Gold Jazz Ensemble.
  • He's ranked 96 in Georgia in boys 16's in tennis in addition to also having a southern and national ranking.
  • He also served as a LUG head at Grace Church, being a mentor and leader to middle school boys.

Whiz Kid's Key to Awesomeness: David calls himself lazy but he is a hard worker, training for tennis two-three times a week for 2.5 hours each, and he practices on weekends when not playing in a tournament. He studies hard, sometimes getting up at 5 a.m. to "look over a few more things." He also took advantage of being able to use the library during extended lunch to study and do homework. His father, Jeff Brown, owns two animal hospitals so David has observed first hand how to combine work and fun with friends.
