Four Snellville Ballerinas to Participate in Youth America Grand Prix Southeastern Semifinals

A total of ten Gwinnett dance students will compete in one of the most prestigious ballet competitions.

The Gwinnett Ballet Theatre is hosting the Youth America Grand Prix Southeastern Semifinals, one of the world’s most prestigious classical ballet competitions.

Four Snellville girls will participate in the event:

  • Cameron Silas
  • Jordan Silas
  • Nichole Polakowski
  • Claire Bockhop

Six other students from the Gwinnett Ballet Theatre will also participate. All ten girls will perform in one of the large studios at the school during a small fundraiser on Sunday, February 24 at 2:30 p.m. in their new facility at 1800 Macleod Drive in Lawrenceville.

"This is a wonderful way for our dancers to gain experience performing their competition pieces and for us to show appreciation for all of their hard work and hours of rehearsal," said director Holly Calmes.

It is meant to be  a relaxed and informal way to introduce children to ballet, too, so young children are invited to attend. They can meet the dancers and see them perform up close in a way that a traditional theatre setting cannot offer.
