1. Parkwood Farms

When/Where: October 29, 3 p.m. - 6:30 p.m., , 2519 Parkwood Road, Snellville

Why Go: It's that weekend. Halloween. And, there is certainly a lot to chose from. In Snellville, our and Parkwood Farms will be hosting an event that will be fun for everyone. There will be horse rides for children of all abilities, gluten-free goodies, trick-or-treating, a costume contest, and more all in a carnival atmosphere. Proceeds go to benefit the work of Β

When/Where: October 27, 7 p.m., , 4210 Shiloh Road, Snellville

Why Go: You can join a local high school for some spooky music and support students and the arts in the process. Shiloh's orchestra will present this fall concert with music from: "In the Hall of the Mountain King", "Danse Macabre," "Night on Bald Mountain," "Pirates of the Caribbean" and "Thriller!"

3. Brookwood High

When/Where: October 29, doors open at 5 p.m. and movie starts at 7 p.m., , 1255 Dogwood Road, Snellville

Why Go: Here's another local high school that you can support. The Broncos will also be presenting its fall festival on Sunday in the gym. Activities include: hay rides, trick-or-treating, moonwalks -- who doesn't love a moonwalk? -- face panting, pumpkin decorating, and more. The school will also so a child-friendly movie, "Despicable Me." A good way to have a safe Halloween. And, proceeds go to the

Pricing: Free admission and trick-or-treating, but purchase tickets for other individual activities.

4. PugFest 2011

When/Where: October 29, 10 a.m., Gwinnett County Fairgrounds, 2405 Sugarloaf Parkway, Lawrenceville

Why Go: Held at the Gwinnett County Fairgrounds, PugFest is the annual fundraiser for Southeast Pug Rescue & Adoption, Inc., also known as SEPRA. PugFest is SEPRA's biggest fundraising event. You'll get to see some cute pooches win awards and prance about. But, there will be NO selling of pugs at the event and NO adoptions. Funds from the event go to help pug pooches, of course! Pricing: $8/person, $4 for children younger than 12

5. Omega Trail

When/Where: October 28-30, 7:15 p.m., 3080 Highway 81, Summit Baptist Church, Loganville

Why Go: Omega Trail is an annual interactive event that takes folks on a walking trail through the woods while demonstrating what might be next, according to the book Revelations in the Bible. According to the website, more than 900 people have decided to make personal relationships with God after participating. For more on the Omega Trail, which has been around since 2005, click here.

Pricing: $5, but for group leaders who bring 20 or more people, there will be four free tickets.
