A new artist is showcasing her work in Snellville for the Art on the Wall at City Hall series now through Dec. 31.

Mikki Root Dillon, a pastel artist from Lilburn, will be showcasing her work in the Snellville solo exhibition "Of People and Places."

Having worked previously in stained glass and watercolor, Dillon has won numerous national awards and has achieved signature status in six national pastel societies. She's the assistant editor of DustBuster, the newsletter for the Southeastern Patel Society, which she's also a board member of. She has mentored and taught many students for many years, and she's also the curator for the gallery at St. Edward Episcopal Church in Lawrenceville for more than 20 years.

Her work are in many public and private collections throughout the country. Best known for her vibrant figurative work, she has been working in the plein air landscape genre for the past seven years.

"I always loved the beauty around me, dearly loving the summers in Maine, nurturing my love of landscape," said Dillon. "That has finally come to fruition in my life as a plein air painter, among other things."

Be sure to check out Dillon's work now through the end of the year at Snellville City Hall, located at 2342 Oak Road.
