Parkwood Farms to Host Golf Tournament Fundraiser

The Snellville therapy center that faced eviction last year is hosting Holes for Horses in September in order to help raise awareness of the need for therapy centers.

Parkwood Farms, the therapeutic riding center in Snellville for disabled children, is hosting a golf tournament fundraiser to raise awareness on the need for therapy centers like itself.

The first annual Holes for Horses will be held Friday, Sept. 13, at the Country Club of Gwinnett.

Currently, the event is seeking volunteers, golf participants, and sponsors. The cost to be a golf player is $130.00, which covers the event, a ticket scratch-off card and food. There will be a silent auction and raffles, and Brad Denton, Golfweeks magazine Entertainer of the Year for 2013, will be performing his Comedy Golf Trick Shot Show. Non-golfers can enjoy his show by donating $5 to the fundraising tournament.

Interested volunteers can contact golfvolunteers@parkwoodfarms.org, golfers can sign up at www.tournevents.com/parkwood, and sponsors can get connected by emailing holesforhorsesgolf@parkwoodfarms.org.

Parkwood Farms helps children disabilities such as autism, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, emotional-behavioral problems and learning issues by teaching them important life skills as they ride horses. The center faced foreclosure last year and earlier this year, but was saved in June, thanks in part to an anonymous donor working with Occupy Atlanta, fundraisers and a candlelight vigil.
