City Hosts Public Safety Night

The annual Snellville event drew in hundreds of people to see K9 demos, learn about seatbelt safety, meet police officers and firefighters, and more.

Police officers, firemen and more were out in full force on the town green Tuesday (Sept. 24) as Snellville celebrated Public Safety Night, hosted by the Snellville Police Department, the city of Snellville and the Snellville Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association.

Similar to National Night Out, the local event had K9 demos, a vehicle rollover simulator, self defense demos, booths and vendors, and a fire truck that attendees could climb in. Some adults even took a 100-foot ride into the air in the truck's cherry picker.

The attendance was at least double than what Snellville's National Night Out was last year, according to Kathy Emanuel with the citizens police academy alumni association.

Major sponsors of the event include ABRA, AMAI Karate, Child IDs, Code Red, DFACS, and Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Department.
