Save the Date: Snellville Public Safety Night

The annual family event that emphasizes the protection of citizens will be held Sept. 24.

The Snellville Police Department, the Snellville Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association and the city are hosting the annual Snellville Public Safety Night on Tuesday, Sept. 24, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Held on the Snellville Town Greene in front of city hall, the free event is open to the public and aims to bring awareness on how to protect one's self and family. Similar to National Night Out, which was last Tuesday (Aug. 6), Public Safety Night emphasizes the positive relationship between citizens and the police force.

In addition to meeting several members of the Snellville Police Department, activities of the evening include:

  • K9, self-defense and traffic stop demonstrations
  • Exhibitors on personal safety, road safety for all ages, gun safety and training, financial security, home security and pet security
  • CodeRED, which is the city's free emergency notification system
  • Fingerprinting for kids
  • Inflatables
  • Eddie Eagle
  • A treasure Hunt
There also will be a flag ceremony presented by the Snellville Police Department Color Guard promptly when the festival starts, and police vehicles with anti-crime accessories, tactical equipment and weapons will be on display. The Special Response Team, the Gwinnett County Fire Department, the Gwinnett Division of Family and Children Services and the county District Attorney's Office will be on hand, too.
