Snellville Ballerinas Compete in International Ballet Competition

The 2013 Youth America Grand Prix Atlanta Semi Final was held this weekend at the Gwinnett Performing Arts Center.

Youth America Grand Prix is the worlds largest ballet scholarship competition. This year for the first time one of the Semi Final rounds was held in Metropolitain Atlanta, hosted by Gwinnett Ballet Theatre. Competitors traveled from Brazil, London, Japan, and Snellville, Georgia to compete.

The four Snellville competitors were Cameron Silas, Jordan Silas, Nichole Polakowski and Claire Bockhop.

The competition was vast but the Gwinnett County ballerinas had a lot to be proud of. Competitors in three divisions, Pre-Competitive, Junior and Senior, performed solo variations and contemporary pieces before a distinguished panel of judges.  Competition began on Friday morning and concluded on Saturday night.  Sunday competitors were offered master classes by the expert judges.
