Snellville Councilman Bobby Howard Launches Re-Election Campaign

Snellville voters and city leaders know all too well that the most important kick-off this fall has little to do with football and everything to do with the upcoming election . Snellville Council Member, Bobby Howard, officially launched his re-election campaign last week at a reception hall full of cheerleaders.

Hosted by close friends and The Committee to Re-Elect Bobby Howard, there were several introductory commentaries on the councilman's behalf. Commencing the well attended event was Mark Stevens who welcomed supporters and spoke from a business owner's perspective. Delivering a  serious and strong message, Stevens asserted that when owning and operating a business in a city such as Snellville, integrity, ethical  conduct, and strong moral character are essential qualifications for its elected officials. "That's what you get with Bobby, exactly what you see," stated Stevens.

To continue the introduction, former Snellville council member, Barbara Bender, spoke of Howard's commitment  beyond the dais. Bender reflected on many of the city projects and events that Howard supports with his superior craftsman skills.  "He's got a really big truck and that truck has a lot of lights," joked Bender. "Bobby will do what is right for the citizens of Snellville.  He is deeply involved in all the activities happening in town and is accessible to everyone he represents."

Snellville Councilman, Dave Emanuel, joined in the fun regarding Bobby's well known, well lighted and gizmo-stocked truck.  Councilman Emanuel admitted that he had never met Howard prior to his bid for council back in  2011. Emanuel furthered that after working together for a short while it was clear that Howard was a man of good character. "Bobby has fought to do what is right and what serves the best interests of the citizens," he concluded.

Snellville Mayor Pro Tem, Tom Witts, also offered a few encouraging words for Howard. In keeping with the fun, he agreed that Howard has the handiest truck in Snellville, and complimented his early-morning work ethic. Witts thought it was important to point out that he and Howard don't always agree on city business, however they are always able to discuss matters respectfully and continue working together for the betterment of Snellville.

After the introductions and a warm welcome from his constituents, an overwhelmed Howard took the floor. "I still can't believe I'm here."  I never saw myself doing this and as I look around this room, I couldn't be more blessed or thankful," stated Howard. Amazed by the experience of serving as a council member, Howard spoke about his belief in the city and the vision started by respective council members that now continues to move forward as a splendid reality for Snellville citizens.

Howard spoke candidly about the city's challenges and his desire to "remain a small part" of the city's future. Howard thanked his re-election committee members and close friends for all of their help with the kick-off reception.  He was especially fond of the "motorcycle candy."

As a native Georgian who grew up in the Atlanta area, Howard moved to Snellville in 1995 and runs a small business providing handyman services . Having experienced the ebb and flow of Snellville's landscape, government and population, Howard is grateful for the positive changes that have taken place over the past three years. Howard believes that united and committed leadership is a key ingredient for the future of Snellville, and it's continued progress. Bobby Howard considers himself to be a man of vision  who fully appreciates the true meaning of "community."
