Breast Cancer Awareness in Snellville

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, quite a few organizations around town are hosting fundraisers or donating proceeds of sales to further research and contribute to the cause of breast cancer research.

According to Susan G. Komen for a Cure, it is estimated that there will be 226,870 new cases of invasive breast cancer in 2012. There will also be 39,510 deaths caused by breast cancer this year.

On Oct. 5, South Gwinnett's home game against Berkmar will be a "Pink Out," and is dedicated to spreading awareness about breast cancer.

Dr. Patrick French and Dr. Matt Mazawi are donating the proceeds of a teeth bleaching services ($199) to raise funds for a new 3D breast imaging equipment at Gwinnett Medical Center.

The Shiloh Athletic Association's Angels will host their first ever annual "Walk Against Breast Cancer" at Lenora Park on Oct. 13. The participation cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children.
