Antogitos Salvadoreno Fails, Multiple Restaurants Raise Scores

Restaurant inspections, including school cafeterias, in Snellville for Dec. 17 - Dec. 23.

Results of recent Gwinnett County restaurant inspections in Snellville by East Metro Public Health with a synopsis of deficiencies found by the inspector. These are reports over the past week.

Name: Antogitos Salvadoreno
Location: 2585 Highpoint Road
Score: 68/U
Previous scores: 90/A
Deficiencies observed: Manager has failed to properly hot hold foods which require temperature or time control, failed to train and supervise the kitchen assistant helping in the restaurant today, failed to dispose of expired foods, etc. Employees are eating meals on the prep table where washed poblanos were being prepared. Several serving utensils (ladles, slotted spoons, spatulas, etc) are held for multiple days without cleaning in the basin of the steam table. Some clean utensils are also stored here. Several TCS foods (time/temperature controlled for safety foods) have labels which reflect a holding time of more than 7 total days.  Unwrapped drinking straws are offered for self-service on the front counter. Milk jugs are being used to store the hibiscus drink after the jug is empty of milk.

Deficiencies observed: Observed refrigerators without thermometers or thermometers pushed to back of units. Observed single use trays in storage not in protective overwrap. All food in freezer frozen solid including food from delivery that had just completed.

Deficiencies observed: Employee using bare hand to remove cooked lo mein from container, (b) employee using bare hand to determine temperature of cooked shrimp. Bare hand contact with ready-to-eat foods. Wet wiping cloths were stored on the prep tables, (b) wiping cloth container was stored in direct contact with the floor, (c) wiping cloth container was 10 ppm. In-use, wet wiping cloths not stored in an approved sanitizing solution (100 ppm available chlorine or 300 ppm available Quat). Cloths were placed a container of 100 ppm of chlorine and the container was placed in on the shelf.

Name: Eastside Medical Center

Deficiencies observed: There is no soap provided at the handwashing sink in the dishwashing room. Both the handwashing sinks for the main prep area and the dishwashing room are blocked. Rolling carts are gathered in front of the main sink. A large stack of dish racks is blocking the other sink.  Ice cubes used as coolant have fallen into multiple foods on the salad bar.

Deficiencies observed: The dishwashing machine was not dispensing sanitizer at concentration at least 50 ppm chlorine. Several multi-use metal food containers stored with clean dishes but have food debris remaining after cleaning. Lemons are on display for self-service at the beverage station. They are contained in a metal bowl with a lid and tongs provided. This is not adequate protection.

Location: 2226 Bethany Church Road Suite H1
Score: 95/A

Deficiencies observed: Rice utensils holding in a container of 78F water. In-use utensils for hot-held potentially hazardous foods not stored in a container of 135F water. Wood pallets used to store equipment and food containers. Materials used in the construction of food equipment not easily cleanable. Replace ceiling tiles in the bakery area with washable ceiling tiles.

Location: 3888 Stone Mountain Highway
Score: 95/A

Deficiencies observed: Observed cotton candy displayed for public on top of ice cream machines. Cotton candy moved to behind sneeze guard. Observed buildup of carbon and grease on outside of pots, pans, waffle irons, muffin pans. Observed dumpster and area with buildup and debris. Observed odor at dumpster.

Deficiencies observed: Minute Maid with a use-by date of 10/10/12 and 12/02/12, Coke Zero with a use-by date of 12/04/12, Sun Lemonade with a use-by date of 10/15/12.

Score: 99/A

Deficiencies observed: Shelving is rusting in the prep area and walk-in cooler.

Name: Which Wich
Location: 1350 Scenic Highway, Suite 604
Score: 85/B
Previous scores: 64/U, 91/A
Deficiencies observed: Observed sliced tomatoes in top of prep cooler held above 41°F. Cold held potentially hazardous foods shall be maintained below 41°F.  Walk-in cooler not maintaining ambient air temperature at 41°F or below.
