Baby Formula Pulled from Walmart

A batch of Enfamil formula has been pulled from some 3,000 stores nationwide.

Retail giant has pulled a batch of Enfamil Newborn power from more than 3,000 of its stores after a baby in Missouti became gravely ill after ingesting the formula and later died of a bacterial infection.Β 

Various news agencies, including Huffington Post is reporting.

The announcement was made by the Arkansas-based company on Wednesday.

No government recall had been ordered for the 12.5-ounce cans of Enfamil Newborn powder with the lot number ZP1K7G. However, news reports say that manufacturer Mead Johnson Nutrition tested the product before being shipped, and that it was negative for the bacterium.

Walmart spokeswoman Dianna Gee was quoted in the Lebanon Daily Record as saying that the company pulled the entire lot "out of an abundance of caution" while health officials the child's death. Pending an investigation, it could return store shelves.Β

There are more than 4,400 retail in the United States, including Sam Clubs. There are approximately 3,014 Walmart super centers.
