Chick-fil-A Reportedly Sets World Record, Runs Out of Chicken

Saddleback Church's Pastor Rick Warren says Dan Cathy called, claimed world record, while local chains had to close early after running out of fresh chicken.

According to Pastor Rick Warren's Twitter feed, Dan Cathy, head of Chick-fil-A and son of founder Truett Cathy, called Pastor Rick Warren and claimed to have set a world record in sales:

"@DanCathy just called me.  #ChickfilA has already set a world record today, with 7 more hours to go in the West.  #outofchicken"

Chick-fil-A confirmed the rumors, stating that they did indeed have a record-breaking day.  

"While we don't release exact sales numbers, we can confirm reports that it was a record-setting day," said Steve Robinson, executive vice president of marketing in a statement on Thursday.

Local restaurants were packed with people throughout the day, and the had to close early. 

"We just couldn't keep up with the demand," said manager Kevin Kelliher. "We ran out of thawed chicken and people were having to wait 40 minutes for their meals."

Kelliher estimates between 3-4,000 people stopped by his location yesterday for Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day. 

"It was nuts," he said.  

On average, they serve around 1,500 per day.  

In Loganville, police and fire officials had to come out to manage the crowds. 

"I expected it to be big, just not this big," said . "Did I expect I would have to be standing here with the fire marshal letting people in - No Maam."
