Dole Recalls 1,077 Cases of Bagged Salad

Products that pose Listeria risk were distributed across six states, including Walmart and Kroger stores in Georgia.

Recall notices can be found on the fresh produce stands in local Kroger and Walmart stores following the voluntary recall of 1,077 cases of bagged salad this week. A random sample test of one of Dole Fresh Vegetable packages tested positive for Listeria.

Dole initiated the recall after a random sample of Marketside Leafy Romaine in North Carolina tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes, an organism that can cause foodborne illness, Dole said in a statement. Symptoms include fevers, muscle aches, and nausea or diarrhea.

Pregnant women and those with weakened immune systems are usually more affected by the illness, Dole said, but "most healthy adults and children rarely become seriously ill."

The products at risk were distributed across six states, the Huffington Post reported, including Virginia, Georgia, Kentucky, South Carolina and Tennessee. While the product is likely no longer on shelves, the company said, customers should be aware of the risk and grocers should ensure any affected bags that remain in stores are removed from stores.

Affected products include:
