After leasing the Enzo's Pizza location in Snellville last month, owners Danny Gomez and Arturo Urbina knew they had to change the name.
And that day has finally come. The 3070 Stone Mountain Highway establishment is officially reopening Thursday (Oct. 17) as Fratelli's Pizza.
The name change comes after Enzo's experienced some problems starting in May. Under previous owner Tom Tillotson, the local restaurant was shut down after failing a restaurant inspection and two follow-up inspections, with citations ranging from refrigeration issues, an unclean kitchen and cockroaches. The restaurant re-opened in mid-June after scoring an A on the third follow-up inspection, and it passed the next inspection, too.
"I had a great response from customers. They were amazed with the food," said Gomez, who rolled out with a new menu when he took over. "The only thing that anybody suggested was to change the name."
The new owners immediately got the ball rolling on switching over to Fratelli's, but in order to do so, they had to close for three weeks. Gomez explained that the restaurant had to go through the health inspector, fire marshall and building inspector, something they didn't have to do before since they were still under the Enzo name.
Fratelli's will have a temporary banner up Thursday, Gomez continued, and A Better Sign off Scenic Highway will be putting in the new sign either Friday or Saturday.
Even though they haven't been open for long, Gomez said they've already grown a regular customer base with their New York-style pizza, pasta, salads, subs, chicken wings, chicken and seafood.
"I think we're going to have a great time over here," said Gomez. "I like the location, I like the people, and I think it's going to be really, really good."
