Know Before You Go: Restaurant Health Inspections

Results of recent Gwinnett County restaurant inspections in Snellville by East Metro Public Health with a synopsis of deficiencies found by the inspector. These are reports over the past week.

August 17

Name:
Location: 2484 U.S. Highway 78
Score: 88/B
Previous Scores: 86/B (July 5, 2011), 76/C (June 24, 2011)
Deficiencies observed: Employee at the grill not washing hands after handling raw ground beef and then handling cooked french fries at deep fryer, and cutting boards at prep cooler not in goo repair.

August 18

Location: 2671 Centerville Highway, Suite 180
Score: 82/B
Previous Scores: 94/A (July 7, 2011), 71/C (June 28, 2011)
Deficiencies observed: Bar mats being store inside hand-washing sink, two hand sinks out of paper towels, dish machine not properly sanitizing the dishes, two chemical spray bottles without labels, no test strips for sanitizer, no covered trash can in employee restroom, and Dumpster area "excessively cluttered."

Score: 92/A

Deficiencies observed: Employee observed drinking from an unapproved container in food prep area, employee was observed doing food prep while wearing a ring with stones, a large wood stirring utensil in poor condition with chipping edges, and base of mixer in food prep area had food debris on it.

Deficiencies observed: Employee left drinking cup directly above pepperoni, dusty light fixtures over food, vegetable sink being used to that meat and area under oven with accumulated food debris.

Deficiencies observed: Manager there no able to recite five symptoms and diseases that may afflict employees (regarding employee health policies), cutting boards not in good repair, deep fryer with fragmented wires, and leak at mop sink.
