Mold and Roaches Result in Low Scores in Recent Health Inspections

Results of recent Gwinnett County restaurant inspections in Snellville by East Metro Public Health with a synopsis of deficiencies found by the inspector. These are reports over the past week.

Deficiencies observed:  Food dicer has particles remaining after it was just cleaned. Ensure food contact surfaces are clean to both sight and touch before storage and subsequent use.  Microwave oven in the dining room is unclean at the plate and cavity. Clean more frequently to prevent build-up of residue.  Ice machine has layers of black mold at the chute. Sandwich frill picks are stored in an unclean container.

Food packages not in good condition. Buildup of grease, mold, and/or dirt on rice warmers, prep cooler, fryer oil cabinets. Buildup of dirt and moldlike substance present on the toilets in the restrooms. Buildup of dirt on the floors. Live and dead roaches on the prep tables and walls.

Deficiencies observed: Employees were donning gloves without washing hands to work with raw and ready to eat food. Employee loading dirty dishes into the dish machine then unload clean dishes without washing hands in between. Utensils in the drawers below the grill used for cooking with food debris present. Utensils were removed for cleaning. Food contact surfaces not clean to sight and touch. In-use wet wiping cloth stored on raw shell egg carton at the cook and wet wiping cloth stored on the prep cooler counter. Ice machine has moldlike substance present of tubing, chute, and guard. (2) Some drink dispensing nozzles with moldlike substance present. Ice bins, beverage dispensing nozzles and units, cooking oil storage tanks, coffee bean grinders, or water vending equipment not cleaned at a frequency necessary to preclude accumulation of soil or mold.
