Local Walmart Getting Makeover

The Walmart on Centerville Highway in Snellville is being remodeled.

The on Centerville Highway in unincorporated Snellville is getting a makeover.

The store, located at 3435 Centerville Highway, is among three Atlanta stores getting "extensive" upgrades currently, according to a Walmart press release. The other two stores are in Newnan and Canton.

The store will remain open during renovations, which are expected to be completed by June and July 2011. The cost of the makeovers was not disclosed by Walmart media officials.

However, the stores are being remodeled "from the inside out and will represent the latest in Walmart's store design and customer experience," the press statement said.

The new design is based on customer feedback, and it will feature a new open layout with  low-profile shelving, bright paint schemes and lighting, and new signage to help customers find products. Product assortment is also being upgraded. A new design will align products that customers frequently buy together.

“We are excited to bring an improved shopping experience to our customers,” said Kenny Banks, the store manager at the Centerville Highway location. “We listened to our customers and are redesigning the store to make shopping at Walmart even easier."

The majority of remodeling work will be done at night. There will, however, be maps to help customers locate things in the store.

Approximately 75 additional associates were hired at the store to complete the entire remodel.
