Office Depot, Barnes & Noble Potentially on Chopping Block

According to a Daily Finance report, a number of big box retailers could close their doors at some point in 2013.

According to a DailyFinance.com report, sales for United States retailers are so bad that it's not a question of whether they will close stores, it's a question of when and how many.

Out of all the potential closings of big box retailers, the report predicts which retailers -- eight total -- will close the most stores in 2013. All but two have stores in Snellville, but it's not known whether the local ones are on the chopping block.

  1. Best Buy - 200 to 250 stores will close
  2. Sears Holding (Kmart and Sears stores) - Kmart will close around 200; Sears 100 to 125
  3. J.C. Penney - 300 to 350
  4. Office Depot - 125 to 150
  5. Barnes & Noble - around 200
  6. Gamestop - 500 to 600
  7. Office Max - 150 to 175
  8. RadioShack - 450 to 550

Barnes & Noble will close up to a third of its stores, although it will take ten years to do so. The two nearest Best Buy stores, in Loganville and Highway 78 in Stone Mountain, closed down last year.
