Tom Wages Funeral Home Honored

The funeral home -- located in Snellville and Lawrenceville- is the winner of the National Funeral Director Association's Pursuit of Excellence Award.

The National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA) recently awarded the has earned its most prestigious honor, the Pursuit of Excellence Award. It is the second consecutive year that the business has received the honor.

Tom M. Wages Funeral Service, located in both and Lawreceville, is the onlym funeral home in Gwinnett County to be recognized. The NFDA awarded 146 funeral homes in the nation with the 2011 Pursuit of Excellence Award.

The award is given annually to firms that demonstrate a commitment to excellence in funeral service, including ethical practices, professional standards and oustanding service to families and the community.

To earn an NFDA Pursuit of Excellence Award, a participating funeral home must meet or exceed business standards determined by the program and demonstrate proficiency in key areas of funeral service, such as state and federal regulations compliance, continuing education and professional development opportunities for staff, offering programs and resources for bereaved families, and more.

The award will be presented to the Tom M. Wages Funeral Service on Monday, Oct/ 24, at NFDA's 2011 International Convention and Expo in Chicago, Ill.

Lynn E. Ochiltree, chairman of NFDA Pursuit of Excellence committee, said he hopes that this award "inspires all funeral homes to strive for excellence."

Valerie Wages, President of Tom M. Wages Funeral Service, said that her firm received the award for doing what they have done for 60 years: "demonstrating our commitment to provide exceptional service to grieving families and giving back to our community through unique outreach programs, while adhering to the highest ethical and professional standards."
