Which Best Buy Stores Are Closing?

Best Buy issued a statement Saturday morning regarding its closure plans for 50 stores across its United States market. Is your local store closing?

Best Buy has announced its final closure plans for some 50 big-box retail locations across the United States, and two of those closing are in Georgia.

The company previously disclosed the locations of eight stores -- in Kansas City; Scotsdale, Ariz.; San Antonio, Texas; and the Twin Cities (Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minn.) -- that were closing.

Now, the plans for the remaining 42 stores are finalized, and officials notified affected stores and employees Saturday morning, according to press release sent April 14. The number of employees affected was not released.

Two Georgia stores -- in and Fayetteville -- are among those closing.

Most of the stores are expected to close by May 12, according to Best Buy officials.

"This was not an easy decision to make," officials said in a press statement. "We chose these stores carefully, and are working to ensure the impact to our employees will be as minimal as possible, while serving all customers in a convenient and satisfying way.

"But we also recognize the impact this news has on the people who deserve respect for the contributions they have made to our business.

We will be working to help these employees find other positions inside Best Buy. If they don’t find new positions, or if they choose not to work at a different location, a transition including severance packages will be available."

To process the news, most of the 42 stores slated for closure are not open today, and will re-open on Sunday, April 15.

It's a real bummer that the store in Orem, Utah isn't closing too! They have terrrible customer service and are staffed with a bunch of idiots!

What a crock, our Loganville store has only been around for a couple of years. Now it can sit empty or turn into a title pawn. Thanks Best Buy Corp! Buying electronics on-line is ok for some but not for me. I like to have the item demonstrated and explained by a human. Now there will be a tax in Georgia for on-line purchases so throw in the shipping costs and the delay and you think this is better? I like the old days when you could actually go into a store like Borders that is also vacant and actually look at what your going to buy. We may as well never leave our houses and just stay on-line.

The Loganville location was convenient, but not needed. Too many "country" folks in that area for a store like this to flourish. Also, with the one of 124 in Snellville around, I'm sure most people prefer to go to it...much better shopping around. Loganville sucks...they need to convert that to a gym to encourage some of the fat folk to workout...otherwise, a mega Chuck E Cheeses would make millions there.
