1910 Public House Review

When it comes to food, the 1910 Public House in old town Lilburn is outstanding.  After dining there on Saturday night, my only complaint was the wait staff.  Probably due to inexperience, the waitresses we came in contact with left negative impressions.  Point One - asked to sub collard greens for green beans...waitress said "We don't usually make substitutions...but I'll check."  BAD...if a patron is paying $25+ for an entrée, they better be satisfied!  Later came back and said they would do the sub, but they were out of Duck Breasts that the other 2 guests ordered!  Point Two - I asked for some bread and the waitress said that they normally don't bring out bread yet, but would check on it. Point Three - into the meal I asked for more bread (oh, by the way, the bread consisted of 3 small rolls & 2 marbles of butter for a table of 3). The waitress said that they normally don't provide extra bread unless I wished to pay for it.  This is not acceptable in a supposed mid to high end restaurant!  THEN she brought out the bread anyway! FREE!  Some good points, however, when the manager came to the table and apologized for running out of duck breasts, and, the owner did the same, offering us a free appetizer or dessert "the next time" we visit.  Now's the time, dear, since we were annoyed now and probably won't come back again.  I do hope the service improves with age & training since the food is excellent.
