Why Go: There will be an afternoon of activities for children of all ages, including visits with Santa, carriage rides, craft activities and more. The evening will culminate with the big tree lighting at 7 p.m.

2. Santa, Pooches and Felines

When/Where: November 27, 12 p.m. - 4 p.m., Gwinnett County Humane Society, Avenue at Webb Gin, 1350 Scenic Highway, Snellville

Why Go: Celebrate the holidays with the local humane society. There will be an open house, where you shop for your pets, enjoy the bake sale and refresments and see adoptable animals. Your favorite furry friend can also get pictures with Santa. 

Pricing: Entrance is free. $10 donation for picture session.

3. Old-Fashioned Main Street Christmas

When/Where: November 25, 4 p.m. - 8 p.m., Stone Mountain City Hall, 922 Main Street, Stone Mountain

Why Go: See the lighting of the Christmas treet, a parada, pony rides and more at this celebration in the city of Stone Mountain's village. There even will be fireworks! Click here to learn more about the village.

Pricing: Entrance is free.

4. Gwinnett County Holiday Celebration

When/Where: November 24, starts at 5 p.m., , 185 West Crogan St, Lawrenceville

Why Go: The evening will include music from the Class Act Band, The John King Band and local artist . There will also be free face painting and arts and crafts for the kids. The tree lighting ceremony will begin at 6 p.m., and Santa Claus will arrive around 6:45 p.m. Marines also will be there, collecting gifts for Toys for Tots.

Pricing: Entrance is free.

5. Christmas at Stone Mountain

When/Where: Now - Dec. 31, 10 a.m., Stone Mountain Park, 1126 Stonewall Jackson Drive, Stone Mountain

Why Go: The lights always look so pretty, and Stone Mountain Park really tries to do it up. There will be 2 million twinkling lights, lots of holiday performances and hot chocolate, of course. Go, and be sure to bring your camera for some great family memories.
