On this Memorial Day, we ran a story about Snellville coming out to lay flags at the graves of buried service men and women. This story features Eternal Hills Funeral Home.

South Gwinnett High School held its graduation ceremony at the Gwinnett Arena May 29, and about 470 seniors graduated. We also have video of some pretty cool performances.

We were all off this past weekend, well, except police and firefighters and nurses and...hmmm, guess a lot of people were working. But, according to Snellville police not a lot of people were being crazy drivers through our means streets. There were no fatalities and no major accidents. Good deal.

Snellville Patch photographed the last day of school for students at Shiloh Elementary. It was also the last day for the principal there, as she is retiring. Great limbo photos of the students having fun with their teachers. Adios school!

June 1:

It's been 30 years this month since the first documented AIDS cases. So, Snellville Patch decided to do a series on AIDS/HIV awareness in our area. This first story is about the Georgia AIDS Coalition, which is based in Snellville.

I waited all day for a response and didn't get one on Wednesday. Maybe it's harder to reach people at the district office during the summer, we don't know. But, after looking on the Internet I did find this complaint letter from the ACLU to the Gwinnett County school district regarding filters that kick out LGBT-related content. By, Thursday, we did get a statement from the school district.

June 2:

In the second of three-part installment, we looked at how teen and his mom -- previously Snellville resident -- reacted to a diagnosis of HIV positive.

The city has a new public works facility, and we interviewed a few of the workers to see what they think of the new digs. Thanks to the City of Snellville, we also had great photos taken from the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Thanks Snellville!

June 3:

Crystal Huskey, a Snellville Patch freelancer, shares a true story about the impact of AIDS on her family. This was the third of a three-part installment.

June 4:

Inside the Police Reports: Aggravated Assault by Wine Bottle

I don't know what's more interesting. That a 91-year-old man living in Snellville has a 44-year-old girlfriend, or that she hit him in the head with a wine bottle, or that the girlfriend unraveled all the bandages on her hand (injuried while hitting her boyfriend) that EMT put on her to stop bleeding. You be the judge.
