Pink Power: Walkers Battle Breast Cancer

The Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure starts today and Patch will bring you reports about the remarkable people making this 60-mile trek to fight breast cancer. 

The route starts in Stone Mountain and winds through several communities including Decatur, Virginia-Highland, Buckhead, Midtown and East Atlanta.

See Stone Mountain-Redan Patch for a live blog and . For those of you who aren’t walking, there are several sites along the route where you can show your support for the walkers working to raise funds for the cause.

Here are the locations of the cheering zones:

Friday

• Mile 4, 8:15 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.: Downtown Stone Mountain at the Stone Mountain Welcome Center, 891 Main St. 
• Mile 14.2, 11:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.: /Old Courthouse Building, 101 E. Court Sq., Decatur

Saturday

• Mile 13.4, 10:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.: Lindbergh City Center, 520 Main Street NE in Midtown
• Mile 17.7, 12:00 p.m.- 5:00 p.m.: Peachtree Street between 3rd and 6th streets at 701 Peachtree St. in Midtown. (Please do not park in Redeemer Church parking lots.)

Sunday

• Mile 5.0, 9:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.: , 833 Virginia Avenue NE in Virginia-Highland
• Mile 10.3, 10:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.: Freedom Park, between Euclid and Moreland avenues at 1284 North Ave. (Please do not park at Inman Middle School or in church parking lots.)

Closing Ceremony

After three days and 60 miles, participants will take a final victory walk into the Closing Ceremony at Turner Field, 755 Hank Aaron Dr. The Closing Ceremony begins at 5 p.m. Sunday.
