Snellville Communications Survey Now Available

The city is looking for the public's input regarding how it would like to receive information.

Snellville leaders are looking for the public's help in improving its communications efforts. A survey is now available online for residents to give their opinions.

More than 1,000 people responded to the city's survey about town center plans, so officials are hoping this new survey will also be successful. City leaders are especially interested in how citizens would like to receive information on decisions, activities and events.

A 2010 study by the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth showed that 56 percent of all Fortune 500 companies use social media tools such as Facebook, Foursquare, LinkedIn and Twitter to communicate with the public, according to a press release from the city of Snellville.

In fact, Snellville already uses both Facebook and Twitter. The city has 657 "likes" on Facebook, and on Twitter it has 158 followers.

“As Snellville seeks to become a desired destination for its community members, having active engaged communication with the residents and friends of our great city is imperative,” Snellville Mayor Jerry Oberholtzer said in a press release. “Residents, citizens, and friends are invited to complete this survey as part of a campaign to make our communications better. We want to develop communication channels that reach our constituents at their desired locations.”

As the city moves forward with town center plans, programs in the city will be established that inform citizens of progress. The eight-minute survey is an important step in determining how to do that.
