Snellville Weekend Planner: Live Concerts, Dog Show and Time Capsules

Looking for some fun and unique things to do this weekend? Check out these events that are close to home.

Tonight, Aug. 24, Donna Hopkins . Hopkins is a songwriter with "swampy, Gulf Coast funkiness." The event is $10 and will include a benefit for Nick Prevost, who suffered a series of strokes three years ago.

If you're not in the mood for live music, swing by Rhodes Jordan Park Community Recreation Center in Lawrenceville and watch Back to the Future at 6:30 p.m.. Bring an item for a time capsule to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Gwinnett County Parks and Recreation. The time capsule will be opened again in 2037! Price is $4. 

On Saturday, start your day at the Snellville Farmers Market and watch the Best Dog Contest! You can still enter your dog, as long as the forms are entered by 8:30 a.m. tomorrow. The contest starts at 9:30 a.m. and has categories for Best Dressed, Fluffiest, Most Wrinkles and more. While you're there, stock up on fresh fruits and veggies brought to you by local farmers.

Saturday evening, return to the town green for a live concert, brought to you by the Metro Jazz Band. The Wylie Street Coyotes will open at 6 a.m. The event is free. Food will be available from Texas Roadhouse and We B Chillin.
