Good Deeds: Place of Seven Springs Hosting Back-to-School Giveaway

Place of Seven Springs in Snellville is hosting a back-to-school event Saturday, and there's already a waiting list.

Place of Seven Springs, a faith-based nonprofit in Snellville, is hosting a back-to-school to event to help families in need.

The nonprofit will be handing out school supplies 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., July 20, to about 200 children in the Snellville area. And, there's a waiting list, said Debbie Dowdin, who leads the organization.

Usually Place of Seven Springs can help about 300 children each year. If community members want to assist, they can drop off items. The center is located at 3541 Stone Mountain Highway, Suite 6.

"We always need school supplies and book bags, Dowdin said.

Items in need include: loose leaf paper, two-pocket folders, glue sticks, composition books, markers, colored pencils, spiral notebooks, index cards, highlighters, and pink erasers.

In addition, the nonprofit may be offering hair cuts to the children receiving school supplies on Saturday. If there are in community members who can cut hair (mostly boys) and can donate their time, contact Place of Seven Springs.
